District Announcements
Letter from the Superintendent of Schools
Dear Members of the Swansea Community,

It has been brought to my attention that there have been several allegations regarding the school department and, more specifically, regarding special education services for our students. The information that has been shared via social media regarding staff ratios and employment of unqualified staff members is inaccurate and unfounded.  The Swansea Schools are in full compliance with all state and federal regulations, and I am proud to have a staff that is committed solely to the best interests of our students.

As the educational leader of the Swansea Schools, part of my responsibility is to ensure that anyone who has concerns about the Swansea Schools has the opportunity to voice their concerns.  I, therefore, encourage any member of the community who is concerned about the allegations in these social media posts (or has any other concern) to speak to me personally so they can form their own opinions based on facts rather than the false statements of others.

I also appreciate  that, as your Superintendent of Schools, I am a public figure and will, from time-to-time, be the subject of some vicious personal attacks. I never anticipated, however, that I would be responding to the type of unfounded and defamatory allegations as have been brought to my attention.  Being in a position of leadership where I am to be a role model to all of our students, I do feel it is necessary to go on record as categorically denying any unethical conduct by me or the Director of Student Services.  If you read or hear of such allegations, I ask you to stand up and tell the person making such false allegations not to lower the quality of our community by continuing to engage in such behavior.

I thank those community members who have reached out and lent support, and am hopeful that by having meaningful, productive conversations, we can continue to work together to ensure our students are educated in safe, supportive educational environments where they can develop the necessary skills to be productive members of our society.

Sincerely,

John J. Robidoux
